Another Atlanta MARTA train station is being showcased as a potential transit-oriented development.

This time it’s land around the Edgewood-Candler Park station on DeKalb Avenue that could be the magnet for a new mixed-use project, most likely involving a mix of residential and retail. Invest Atlanta — the city’s economic development arm —issued a request for proposals to developers interested in the roughly 5-acre site. It set an April 28th deadline for responses.

The Edgewood-Candler station sits just east of downtown Atlanta, part of a broader area that includes Candler Park, Freedom Park Trail and companies such as Big Nerd Ranch. The RFP comes just a couple of months after Walton Communities won the job to develop a mixed-use project at the King Memorial Station just two stops west of Edgewood Candler. Walton Communities plans 386 apartments and 13,000-square feet of retail on about four acres next to King Memorial on Decatur Street, near Georgia State University, Oakland Cemetery and the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic site. {….}
