The redevelopment of Union Station has the potential to be one of the biggest East Coast TODs in the next 20 years. To give you an idea of how involved this process is going to be, the first air rights building isn’t expected to be completed until 2023. Planners have to find a way to redevelop the station without interfering with its 113,000 daily weekday riders, especially as that number doubles by 2033, the New York Times reports.
